This is the kit list for the 5-night summer camp. All this kit should fit into a waterproof rucksack or holdall (no bin bags or suitcases) with the exception of the day sack and bedding roll which can be carried separately, and the cake(s) and money / medicines which should be handed to a leader on arrival.
- Travel in: Uniform Sweatshirt, t-shirt & neckie, long trousers, walking shoes/boots
- Pack: 2 x long trousers/jogging bottoms (not jeans) and (optional) 1 x shorts
- 2 x warm sweaters/jumpers/hoodies (in addition to Cub uniform)
- 4 x T-shirts or shirts (in addition to Cub t-shirt)
- 1 pair water shoes/old trainers that can get wet – for canoeing/kayaking
- In addition to walking shoes/boots and water shoes, optional to bring a pair of trainers (although we encourage wearing walking shoes at all times). No open toe shoes please, for safety.
- Swimming kit (with goggles if required)
- 5 x Underwear & pairs of socks
- Waterproof coat and trousers
- Warm Pyjamas
- Woolly hat & Sun hat
- Wash kit (soap, shampoo, flannel, toothbrush & paste, comb or hairbrush) and towel
- Unbreakable plate, bowl, mug, cutlery and tea towel in a bag.
- Water Bottle
- Torch & spare batteries (head torches are the most useful)
- Glow sticks (optional if your Cub is afraid of the dark, in addition to torch not instead of one)
- Bag for dirty washing
- Day Pack (small rucksack eg 15litre)
- Sun Cream
- Teddy
- Donation of homemade cakes 🙂
- Max £10 spending money in named envelope, bag or wallet – hand in to leader on arrival
- Any prescribed medicines in named bag – hand in to leader on arrival
- Made up Bedding Roll:
- Minimum 2-season sleeping bag
- Travel pillow (optional)
- Camp Blanket (optional)
- Insulated / foam roll-mat (eg Karrimat)
- Waterproof Ground Sheet c.1.8m x 1.0m
- 2x Bungee cords (Not string)
All Cubs must be able to make up their own bedding roll into a waterproof bundle each morning. Lay out blanket on top of sleeping bag on top of roll-mat, then roll them up. Wrap groundsheet around the roll and secure with bungees. Groundsheets and bungee cords are available from most pound stores and supermarkets as well as camping shops.
Exclusions – please DO NOT pack the following:
- Sweets or other food (we will be feeding your Cubs well and providing sweets! Any food in their packs will be susceptible to attracting pests!)
- Electronic Games
- Radios
- Mobile phones
- Other electronic equipment
- Penknife
