Scouts

1st Liss Scout Troop meets on a Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Scouts is for all young people aged between 10½ and 14½ years. Existing Cubs can join Scouts from 10 years and 3 months if they are ready and where they are working towards their Moving On Award. Scouts then move on to Explorers from the age of 14.

Our Scouts are offered a wide-ranging and well-balanced programme that challenges them helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their abilities and the importance of keeping fit, and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their values and personal attitudes as well as develop important life skills such as leadership and teamwork.

Our focus is on the delivery of an outdoor-based program as far as this is practical and we endeavour to deliver a program based on both traditional Scouting skills as well as adventurous activities, community work and personal challenges.

We look at local issues and support local events and organisations. We nurture and encourage exploration of the wider world both through International Scouting and international issues.

Scout leaders

All of our leaders are trained volunteers working to make Scouts the best it can be, but we don’t just need swashbuckling adventurers to lead our expeditions. We also need tidy-uppers and tea-makers and great listeners from all walks of life – for as much or as little time as they can spare.
