Scouts in September

September…..It’s a tricky month for Scouts….

Lots changes at Scouts in September.  For all it’s the start of a new school year, for some a new school.  We try to keep it as a quiet month for activities to let everything bed in to do with School, clubs and homework.  That doesn’t mean we can’t do anything though.

For the Leaders it’s a busy admin month collecting and cross checking all new forms for activities and photos to name a few.  With four Scouts moving up to Explorers in Petersfield we had some changes at the top, and we are now looking at a complete new generation of Patrol Leaders.

but it’s all going on…..

Our first week back in September we were finding our feet again, then a week later I held a parents meeting.  This was valuable to me as you gave me some good feedback.  Preparations for our week long Easter camp are now underway and I will be able to release dates and costs very soon.

No doubt you will have heard of our visit from Almy and Toby our two local Police Community Support Officers.  Scouts were treated to running about in riot helmets and stab vests.  Heavy work!  After 10 laps of the hall the Scouts were definitely a little quieter.  We were also told about then  dangers of strangers both in the street and online along with some road safety tips and what to do if you find a Mars bar in your pocket!  Many Thanks to Almy and Toby for coming in for what was a very worthwhile visit.  We look forward to thrashing you at 5 a side football in the spring!

For the last week in September we shuffled our Patrols to give some new Patrol Leaders a chance to take the reins.  There were also many badges to give out from last term.
