We are asking for some help from all parents, friends (old and new) and anyone else who knows us! Due to a long term illness we are a Cub Leader ‘down’. With a thriving Cub pack and experianced leaders already in place we are recruiting an extra pair of eyes, either as a parent helper or a uniformed leader, the choice is yours!
‘The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!’
Scouting is one of the great success stories of the last 100 years. From an experimental camp for 20 boys on Brownsea island in 1907, it has spread to 216 countries and territories, with an estimated 28 million members.
Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement, originally started in 1916 for younger brothers who wanted a ‘look-in’. In nearly a century, the section has constantly evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation of young people, and these days admits girls as well as boys.
It would be a shame to restrict some activities trips and camps just because we don’t have enough adults volunteering. This is where you can make a difference. We are looking for an over 18 to come along (it doesn’t have to be every week) and help with Cubs. Its from 1800-1930 on Thursdays, either come along for a look or speak to any Beaver, Cub or Scout Leader. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t done it before, just bring your sense of fun and adventure, we can provide the rest!
