Up and coming we have the yearly survival camp at the end of October. There has been a change of venue for this and we will now be going to ‘Cricket Campsite’ just outside Southampton.
This is a new site for us with much promise and I will put up details once it has been checked for our suitability. For now have a look at their website here.
A busy month here with much potential for badge work. We then have the district Pinewood derby on 2nd November at Churchers College. For those of you who haven’t heard of it it’s Formula 1 Scout style. Then on 10th November we have the village Remembrance parade, which all Scouts are expected to attend. Attending these parades and services counts towards the Promise Challenge award and therefore the Chief Scout Gold award.
We hold a major fund raising event in December in the form of bag packing at Waitrose in Petersfield. It would be a big help if all Scouts could cover a 2 hour slot during the day. All money raised from this goes directly back into the Group. In the past it has paid for hike tents so it is massively important to us as a Group.
A break for Christmas then camping in January as part of Gilwell Winter Camp. This is a massive event in the Troop calendar. It’s a real winter camp with snow ice and the rest of it. Not at all like ‘Winter Camps’ held by other groups in the district round about Easter! It’s a real showcase event held at Gilwell Park, the UK headquarters of the Scout Association.
This month see’s a new up and coming event for the calendar and a cultural run to Basingstoke to see the 2014 Scout and Guide gangshow.
Looking further ahead how about a visit to a major international airshow…….?
Details for all these can be found using the e-mailed link through Online Scout manager, and of course you can sign up and pay for all these events there. Any problems let me know.
